\nBut Hachik\u014d didn\u2019t understand what had happened. For nearly 9 years afterward, he kept returning to the exact same station every single day, waiting patiently for his owner to come back.<\/p>\n
At first, people ignored him, but over time commuters, shopkeepers, and station workers began feeding and caring for him after learning his story.
\nHe eventually became a national symbol of loyalty and devotion across Japan.<\/p>\n
