It\u2019s [he.artbre.aking] to imagine what Nina endured during those [mi.ssi.ng] months, but incredible that she survived and made it back home to the family who never gave up on her. \u2764<\/p>\n
More than a year after their beloved dog vanished without a trace, Northam and April Morris were watching the evening news when they suddenly froze in [di.sbe.lief].
\nThere on the television screen \u2014 surrounded by rescuers during a [ra.id] on a [co.ckf.ight.ing] operation in Marlboro County, South Carolina \u2014 was their [mi.ssi.ng] Pit Bull, Nina.<\/p>\n
Back in December 2013, Nina had [di.sa.ppe.ared] from the couple\u2019s yard during what should have been an ordinary night. They had let her outside for a quick bathroom break while they made a cup of tea. Just minutes later, when they opened the door to let her back inside, she was gone.<\/p>\n
For more than a year, the family searched [de.spe.rat.ely] for her. They hung posters, posted on Fb, and never stopped hoping they would somehow find her again.
\nThen came the [sh.o.cki.ng] discovery.<\/p>\n
In March of 2015, authorities [ra.id.ed] a [co.ckf.igh.ting] operation where 27 people were [a.rr.est.ed] and 120 roosters were rescued. Among all the birds, rescuers found one severely emaciated Pit Bull [ch.ain.ed] outside beside a makeshift kennel holding her 10 newborn puppies.<\/p>\n
Carolina Waterfowl Rescue was one of the groups helping at the scene. During the rescue, volunteer Amie gently wrapped her arms around Nina in a moment that was caught on camera. The rescue later wrote: Probably the first kindness this dog has seen in a while. She wasn\u2019t getting any food either as evidenced by her body condition.<\/p>\n
Shortly afterward, Marlboro County Humane Society picked Nina up \u2014 and the miracle reunion finally happened.<\/p>\n
Although weak and [ex.hau.sted], Nina recognized her family immediately.
\nApril Morris said: It seems so surreal to us, It\u2019s such a miracle to have her back.<\/p>\n
April later shared that Nina had always been treated like family and had never spent a day [ch.ai.ned] outside before she was [st.ol.en]. Safely home, Nina began sleeping at the foot of her family\u2019s bed again, with her puppies beside her. Those pups would later all find loving forever homes.
\nAfter everything she endured, Nina finally came back where she belonged \u2014 surrounded by the family who never stopped hoping for her safe return.<\/p>\n
