In Deer Park, Texas, Officer Joel Nitchman and his [na.rc.oti.cs] K-9 Roni had just returned to the station from training when the weather suddenly turned violent. Wind picked up fast. Rain slammed down. [De.br.is] started flying. Visibility dropped to almost nothing.
\nRoni was still in his kennel inside the patrol vehicle.
\nAnd Officer Nitchman could not leave him there.<\/p>\n
He later said the thought of [de.br.is] hitting the car, or the vehicle [fl.ippi.ng] over, was too much. Roni was not just equipment. He was not just a working dog. He had been Nitchman\u2019s partner since 2018.
\nSo he ran outside.
